Former Titans scout Blaise Taylor guilty of murdering pregnant woman with cocaine
Former Tennessee Titans scout Blaise Taylor has been convicted of murder.
Taylor, 30, is facing a potential sentence of life in prison for allegedly poisoning 24-year-old Jade Benning, who was five months pregnant with a child authorities say Taylor fathered, with a lethal dose of cocaine in 2023. The former scout faced four total counts of murder – two for first-degree murder and two for felony murder – in the trial.
In total, Taylor's trial lasted eight days after beginning on Tuesday, June 23. After both sides delivered their closing arguments on July 1, the jury deliberated for just under three hours before delivering their verdict.
The jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts.
Prosecutors alleged that Taylor gave Benning a drink laced with cocaine in February 2023, then called 911 and claimed she was suffering an allergic reaction. The defense argued that Benning had a history of drug use and was using drugs and alcohol during her pregnancy.
During the trial, jurors heard from many witnesses, including Benning's stepmother, one of her coworkers, one of Taylor's coworkers and medical experts including a forensic toxicologist. The jury ultimately reached a unanimous guilty verdict.

Shep Rose Hints Taylor Ann Green Is ‘Back’ in His Life After She’s Spotted Filming ‘Southern Charm’
Southern Charm star Shep Rose explained how his ayahuasca journey allowed him to reconnect with ex-girlfriend Taylor Ann Green.
“You’ve got a lot of time on your hands and your mind is certainly wandering,” Shep, 46, said while discussing his experience during a Wednesday, July 1, appearance on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio. “They say you’re holding a mirror up to yourself.”
Ayahuasca is a hallucinogenic drug, which is illegal in the United States. South American cultures, however, see it as a spiritual, social or medicinal process that allows for deep emotional healing and trauma release.
Shep recalled going “through this spiral” and reflecting on his two-year relationship with Taylor, 31, which ended in 2022.
“She loved me so much and she cared about me so much and I took it for granted and I care about her and her family very much,” Shep admitted. “Thankfully, that relationship stayed somewhat connected.”

Shep also hinted that Taylor is “a little bit back” in his life. However, he couldn’t share too many details, presumably because Southern Charm is currently filming its 12th season.
The Bravo star noted that he’s “very pleased” to be able to say that he’s in a good place with Taylor after the ups and downs they experienced.
“I thought it was [a] gone forever situation, which I’ve never really had before. I’m, at least, on nice terms with my exes,” Shep continued. “We spent so much good time, so much laughter, so much adventure and intimate moments and lovely things.”
He added, “It’s hard for me to understand how not to honor that with whether you want to call it nostalgia or what have you.”
Taylor made headlines last month when she was spotted filming Southern Charm after leaving the Bravo series in April 2025 following season 10. Instagram account Bravo & Cocktails posted a photo of Taylor filming alongside Salley Carson and Rod Razavi on June 15.

Shep Rose will always hold a special place in his heart for his ex-girlfriend and Southern Charm costar Taylor Ann Green. “I brought her into this world [of reality TV]. … I took her to places geographically that she’d never been before,” Shep, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, November 3, during the first […]“Sally, Taylor and Rod stuck in the ATL airport overnight with cast trip filming,” the social media post read. “This was taken at 1 am. Sally is in the white with red but I didn’t get a photo of her bc was trying to be subtle.”
Us Weekly reached out to Bravo for comment at the time.

Taylor also addressed rumors that she and Shep had reconciled.
“I have seen the rumors that we’re getting back together or hooking up again or whatever, and that is not true,” she said. “Even if I wanted to hook up with Shep again or get back together, I would hope I have a little bit more respect for myself to go from one cheating ex to the other.”

Home Office confirms each asylum claim costs the taxpayer £18,700
Every asylum claim lodged in Britain hits the taxpayer with an £18,700 bill, astonishing new figures disclose.
The average sum includes the cost of providing accommodation and living costs, as well as the sums spent on processing claims and any legal appeals.
It will include Channel small boat arrivals who are housed in migrant hotels as well as less costly types of claimant, such as those who arrive legally on work or student visas and then claim asylum in a bid to remain in Britain.
The Home Office published the figure in background papers to the new Immigration and Asylum Bill, published on Tuesday.
The costings were based on ‘asylum claims from July 2024 to June 2025’, the papers showed.
It would mean the 93,525 asylum claims lodged in the year to March will cost the taxpayer a staggering £1.7billion to resolve.
There were 2,742 small boat arrivals in June which, using the same average figure, will cost more than £51million to support and process.
However, the true cost of dealing with different types of asylum applicants will vary.

For example, the Home Office disclosed earlier this year that it costs an average of £158,000 a year to support a family of asylum seekers.
The official ‘impact assessment’ published alongside the Bill also revealed that more than three-quarters of those who made ‘right to family and private life’ under human rights laws are unemployed.
A breakdown of claims made here under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights said 76 per cent were jobless.
The papers said the applicants were ‘unemployed at the time of application’ and it included ‘both those with and without the right to employment’.
In a further development, the papers add that Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood’s proposals to crack down on abuse of Article 8 may even lead to a spike in asylum claims.
The document said: ‘An increase in refused Article 8 ECHR claims is likely to lead to an increase in the number of migrants that require Immigration Enforcement involvement to exit the UK, with includes both voluntary and enforced removals.
‘The capacity for enforced removals is fixed, so it is difficult to say whether there will be an overall increase in enforced removals.
‘However, in 2022, only five per cent of family and private life refusals that had Immigration Enforcement involvement were enforced returns.
‘To note, increasing the number of refusals may also increase the number of people claiming asylum.’

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp has dismissed Labour’s plan as ‘minor tweaks which will make no difference whatsoever in practice’.
He said previous attempts to ‘fine-tune’ Article 8 claims ‘did not work’.
‘The only way to end illegal immigration is to pull out of the ECHR and modern slavery treaty entirely, which will enable all illegal immigrants to be deported within a week of arrival.
‘Only the Conservatives have a properly thought out plan to do that.
‘These gimmicks from Labour will not move the needle and are simply performative - just like their previous absurd claim to smash the gangs,’ he said.
