Shapiro: Everything Is on the Table, ‘We Need Radical Reform’ of SCOTUS
Pam Key1 Jul 2026
Wednesday on MS NOW’s “Morning Joe,” Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) said everything needed to be on the table so Democrats can radically reform the Supreme Court.
Panelist Mara Gay asked, “Governor, yesterday, despite the Supreme Court’s upholding of birthright citizenship, it appears that the court is just one vote away. It was a 5 to 4 decision specifically on whether the 14th Amendment enshrined those rights. We now have, folks like Vice President JD Vance coming out and saying, hey, this isn’t over. This is just hanging by a thread, birthright citizenship. It’s clear that this conservative movement is planning on continuing this fight. What do you believe Democrats should do if they do regain the majority? Do you think that expanding the court or setting term limits for the courts should be on the table?”
Shapiro said, “I think everything needs to be on the table. I think we need radical reform that’s actually going to ensure that the voices of the people are heard from, that the voices of the people are represented in the three branches of government. We don’t have that right now. You know, the the framers were incredibly concerned in Madison in particular, about an executive accumulating too much power. We’ve seen that because this Supreme Court, in one of its worst decisions over the last century, gave a president absolute immunity because a Congress of the United States has withdrawn from its responsibilities to be a check on the executive. We can begin to change that by voting. And after we vote. I think we need dramatic reform to give the voice back to the people. As for the decision yesterday, I mean, it is as clear as day in the 14th Amendment. This case should have taken a nanosecond to decide and it should have been nine nothing.”

Derek VanBuskirk Reporter July 01, 2026 3:09 PM ET July 01, 2026 3:09 PM ET Derek VanBuskirk Reporter Font Size:Former President Barack Obama’s chief campaign strategist and CNN analyst David Axelrod alleged that Democrat-run Chicago, Illinois, ignored an unconscious man in the heat and suggested that city could have done more.
Axelrod said he was walking past the Art Institute of Chicago on July 1 when he saw a homeless-looking elderly man unconscious on the museum’s stone front steps, according to a post on X. He later added that the city’s facing a real-feel temperature of 107 degrees Fahrenheit. AccuWeather listed an official temperature of 97 degrees Fahrenheit and a real feel temperature of 106 degrees as of publication. Concerned, Axelrod said he asked the museum’s security guard about the issue. She allegedly told him that she had already woken him three times suggesting that he move into the shade, but that he had continued to refuse.
Not satisfied, Axelrod said he dialed 911. After he explained the situation, the operator allegedly said, “Well, is he ASKING for help?”

After replying that he hadn’t, the female operator allegedly replied, “Well I’m not going to send anyone.”
“So the man remained, passed out in the blazing noon sun,” Axelrod said. “I guess that’s how the City of Chicago deals with such situations.”
Axelrod then reflected on his own decisions, saying that perhaps he should have tried to wake the man and persuade him to find shade himself. Instead, the former Obama political strategist said that he was embarrassed to say he had not done that.
“I moved on, like many others who simply ignored him,” Axelrod said.
Although the analyst did not relate the alleged lack of action by passersby and officials or any policy that had led to the homeless man being there in the first place, Axelrod did say that he hopes “we’re not all complicit in assisting an unintended suicide.”

The FBI determined that all three reported messages tied to the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s elderly mother were fraudulent, Reuters reported Tuesday.
After 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie vanished Jan. 31, two ransom notes were reported back in February with a third most recent message allegedly knowing the kidnappers’ identity. The FBI recently assessed that none of the notes are “genuine,” an anonymous FBI official told the outlet.
The validity of the notes raise questions about whether Nancy Guthrie was taken for ransom, according to Reuters.
The FBI did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for additional comment.

“We don’t have any updates, other than this is still an active investigations,” Pima Country Sheriff’s spokesperson Angelica Carrillo, told Reuters. (RELATED: Pima County Sheriff Declares ‘Nancy Has Been Located Amid Search For Nacny Guthrie, But It Was A False Alarm)
The three ransom messages were delivered to different media outlets, along with TMZ.com, and were turned over to authorities for review, according to the outlet.
Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC News’ “Today,” referred to the demands within video message with her siblings, wanting a direct line of communication with kidnappers and expressing wanting to pay for the ransom, Reuters reported.
Originally, FBI officials told Reuters that the two letters were from the same sender.
The first note demanded millions to be paid in cryptocurrency with deadlines of Feb. 5 and Feb. 9, according to TMZ. The outlet received another note last week, and the FBI discounted its authenticity.
The exact details of how investigators ruled out the notes as a fake are still unrevealed, Reuters claims.
The Guthrie family still has hope that their mother is alive and they’ll “never stop looking for here,” Savannah Guthrie said in an Instagram post.

Melat Kiros Called for 'Immediate Pathway' to Citizenship
Colorado Democratic Socialist Primary Winner Melat Kiros Called for ‘Immediate Pathway’ to Citizenship for ‘Every Single’ Illegal Alien

Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) congressional candidate Melat Kiros believes there must be an “immediate pathway” to citizenship for “every single” illegal alien.
Kiros unseated 15-term Democrat Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado’s First Congressional District primary on Tuesday, signaling that the socialist takeover of the Democratic Party spans far beyond the borders of New York.
She holds a range of radical views and is of the thinking that there must be an “immediate pathway” to citizenship for illegal aliens residing in the country.
“Abolishing ICE is just one step, right?” she said during an interview. “Democrats have been in power multiple times over the last few decades and did nothing to address the immigration reform.”
“There has to be an immediate pathway for every single undocumented immigrant that’s here in this country today that does not require them to shell out thousands of dollars to go through the process, to take decades at a time to be able to get to citizenship, an immediate pathway to citizenship,” she added.
Her radical views do not end there, either. She actually described 9/11 as “inevitable” and has called for a “Trans Bill of Rights,” deeming it “horrific” to protect children from gender mutilation surgery, as Breitbart News detailed:
“Like, we’re actually updating the website right now. I wrote all of our policy page a year ago now, but we’re updating it this week, and some of the things that we’re adding in there is also a Trans Bill of Rights,” she said, calling for greater “force” in pushing the transgender agenda.
“You know, I think we have to be so forceful and clear and aggressive in our protection and our advocacy for the trans community, especially for trans kids,” she continued, asserting that there are ballot measures in Colorado coming up that she considers to be “just horrific” and “absolutely destructive for young trans kids.”
One such ballot measure she is likely referring to — Initiative No. 110 — is an effort to prohibit genital mutilation surgery on children.
She has also openly praised the murder of unborn children, asserting that abortion is necessary for women to have “economic freedom” and contending that the U.S. must “guarantee” the ability to stop the heartbeat of an unborn child. She also believes reproductive care must include access to “gender-affirming services” — leftist speak for genital mutilation surgery, hormone therapy, and puberty blockers:
“We must protect access to the full spectrum of reproductive care: contraception, maternal health, fertility treatment, and gender-affirming services. This includes addressing the maternal mortality crisis that disproportionately kills black women in this country as an urgent public health priority,” her campaign platform states, making no mention of the shocking disparity of black deaths through abortion.
Progressive political action committee Justice Democrats said after her victory that “Melat built a movement that inspired Denverites to remember they have the power to transform what kind of Party they want to be represented by” – apparently a party led by socialists.
