We did get confirmation that the ball is different this year.
MLB, he admit it.
You know, Saris, posted something about how the drag on the baseball is down.
This is all very, science-y and physics and ball flight and whatever.
The upshot here is that, like, there i- the league did admit that there is, like, something different with the balls, and it's, like, part of the, production process where there was, like, an imperfection.
Here's where I'm at on this, and the reason why I don't want to get stuck on this.
Is it weird that the balls are different year to year?
Yes.
Would we ever have noticed any of this if not for modern technology?
AdvertisementAdvertisementNo.
I think that this is not, as people long believed, like, an intentional act on behalf of MLB.
Like, this is not nefarious.
They are not trying to get certain balls into certain places.
I think, like, these pills, these little spheres of joy are moving at such a speed and at such a spin these days that we see the effects more than in any other sport because of the size and the sp- does that make sense?
Like, oh, the basketball's a little different.
Well, yeah, but, like, it's bigger, right?
You see what I'm saying?
Like, it's, less affected by the air.
If this is scientifically flawed, please email us, [email protected].
AdvertisementAdvertisementand let me know why I should get more fired up about this.
Like, I, I want to be there with you.
I just, I just want to watch the guys play the baseball regardless of, of what the baseball is.
Yeah, I mean, I, the o- my main pushback would be you said, "Oh, well, we wouldn't notice it, notice this if we didn't have the technology."
I think in 2019 we would've been like, "Something's weird."
We are not at 2019 levels.
2019 was too much.
I think we agree.
Yeah.
I think we've all Yes.
Yes.
Let me, let me, let me add that caveat.
2019 was bananas and too far, and, like, those balls were juiced, and MLB said, "Oh-" Mm-hmm. "
AdvertisementAdvertisementthis is too much.
Whatever is happening here, we need to fix it."
And they fixed it, and it's fine.
I don't think that, like, the ball right now is creating, like, unentertaining or suboptimal- No play on the field.
And I think that- No as long as that's the case, they could play with something made out of tissue paper.
May you like
I don't care.
As long as we stay within the boundaries.
