World Cup 2026 knockout round tracker: Every team’s path to the Round of 32 entering the final group matches

There will be 32 teams advancing to the knockout round following the group stage. The top two teams from each group will advance along with the eight best third-place teams.

Others have seen their World Cup campaigns come to a bitter end after playing just two matches. The rest will spend the next few days calculating scenarios as they fight for one of the remaining places in the Round of 32.

Mexico secured first place in the group and will face a third-place team in the Round of 32.
For South Korea, a win or draw against South Africa sends it through as the group runner-up.
Czechia needs a win over Mexico and help from South Africa. If Czechia wins and South Africa beats South Korea, second place could come down to goal difference.
South Africa also has a path to second place. A win over South Korea combined with a Czechia draw or loss would send South Africa through. If both South Africa and Czechia win, goal difference could determine which team advances.
Bottom line: South Korea advances with a draw. Czechia and South Africa both need a win and favorable results elsewhere.

Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Qatar (Wednesday, 3, p.m. ET, FS1)
Canada and Switzerland enter the final matchday level on four points and will meet in Vancouver with first place in Group B at stake.
Canada will advance to the Round of 32 with a win or draw and would secure first place by avoiding defeat. Switzerland will also advance with a win or draw and would win the group with a victory.
The winner of Group B will remain in Vancouver for the Round of 32, while the runner-up will travel to Los Angeles. That gives Canada a chance to keep playing in front of its home fans.
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Qatar remain alive mathematically but need a win, help elsewhere and a massive goal-difference swing to climb into the top two.
