Vice President JD Vance spoke to troops stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
On Wednesday, Vance traveled to Virginia Beach to address service members. His visit aimed to highlight the Trump administration’s efforts to “support American warfighters and veterans.”
When Vance took the stage, following remarks from Representative Jen Kiggans (R-Va.) and Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, he thanked members of every branch of the military for their dedicated service in defending the United States every day.
The vice president emphasized his appreciation amid the conflict with Iran.
“For 250 years, it is people like you who put on the uniform of the United States of America and made sure that our Constitution actually has meaning,” Vance said. “Because of you my friends, the next 250 years of the United States of America are gonna be better than the last 250 years.”
“All of the great things that we’ve accomplished, you guys are the reason we’ve been able to accomplish it. So, thank you, and welcome home. We’re proud to have you guys back,” Vance continued.
Drawing on his own military service from 2003 to 2007, Vance acknowledged that while political leaders made critical mistakes during that era, President Donald Trump has actively learned from those missteps. The vice president expressed pride in his commander-in-chief, praising him for ensuring that today’s military is given clear, well-defined objectives.
“How hard could it be to build a few democracies in the Middle East? Well, almost impossibly hard, it turns out,” Vance said. “And unbelievably costly… The Trump administration has reversed course. No more undefined missions. No more open-ended conflicts… We ought to be cautious in deciding to throw a punch, but when we throw a punch, we throw a punch hard, and we do it decisively.”
These Marines seem to love our @VP — the first USMC veteran to serve as Vice President.

Austria, meanwhile, are taking part in the World Cup for the first time since 1998 and have been one of the more exciting teams so far.
"This is one of the harder to predict Round of 32 matches for me," Eimer said. "If Spain was playing how they should be playing it would be easy, but right now it's a coin-flip of which Spain side shows up." Minnesota Twins minor leaguer Walker Jenkins stepped up before Tuesday's St. Paul Saints game in a way that had nothing to do with his top prospect status.
Jenkins noticed the fan wobbling and was soon carrying him off the field, eventually giving him to a staff member at the dugout.
The Saints, the Twins' Triple-A affiliate, confirmed Wednesday morning that the boy, named Lincoln, is doing well and has received some team merchandise.
After helping Lincoln, Jenkins proceeded to go 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs scored in a 12-6 win over the Buffalo Bisons. He was a home run shy of the cycle.
The Twins selected Jenkins fifth overall out of South Brunswick High School in North Carolina in the 2023 MLB Draft. He quickly developed into one of the best prospects in the minors, showcasing five-tool talent while playing well above his age at each level.

This season, Jenkins, 21, is slashing .273/.394/.436 in 30 games with the Saints.
