Ashley Brasfield Senior Politics Reporter July 01, 2026 4:10 PM ET July 01, 2026 4:10 PM ET Ashley Brasfield Senior Politics Reporter Font Size:Daily Caller co-founder and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is blasting the “lock-step” political parties and vowing to help build a new third political option for voters.
In an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review (CJR), Carlson was asked about his interest in aligning with other “anti-war voices.” He argued that the nation’s political establishment is united on the issues that matter most, particularly war and finance. “I do know what really matters is war and finance. Where does the money come from? Where does it go? And who gets killed?” Carlson said. “On those questions, the parties are in lockstep solidarity with each other. That’s not a democracy. That’s a one-party state posing as a democracy, and it needs to be broken.”
Tucker Carlson announces plan to build a third political party:
“There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country… If you make sixty thousand dollars a year, you’re degraded… the promise of your children’s lives is likely gone. No one seems to care.… pic.twitter.com/iZ9GcJ24s6

Carlson added that he believes a new political movement is inevitable.
“There’s going to be a third party, and I’m going to do everything I can to bring that about,” he said.
He argued that the events of “the last two and a half months” had only reinforced that belief, pointing to what he described as alignment between President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on foreign policy.
“If you vote for Trump and you still wind up in a regime-change war—if Chuck Schumer is strongly behind Trump’s foreign policy, which he is—then we need options, or else let’s just give up and be ruled by the most unscrupulous people. And I’m just too young to accept that. We need a third party,” Carlson said. (RELATED: Tucker Carlson Has Message For Neocons Wanting To Silence Americans Who Call Out Iran War)
The CJR then pressed the former Fox News host, asking, “when you say do everything you can—”
“I’m going to help build a third party.”
Carlson went on to say he would like to see a “good-faith effort” to determine what best serves the country.

“There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country. I mean, if you make sixty thousand dollars a year, you’re degraded. Your life expectancy has gone down, and the promise of your children’s lives is likely gone. No one seems to care. It’s not even a factor. ‘What about Hamas?’ I officially don’t care about Hamas. The US government should have, as its first priority, the welfare of its own people.”
When asked whether he would personally represent the proposed third party as a candidate, Carlson replied, “I don’t want to be a candidate.”
He added that ahead of a previous interview with The New York Times, “someone said to me, ‘They’re going to ask you if you’re running for president.’ I was very tempted to say ‘I am running—on the pro-patriarchy ticket.’ Just to make sure I gain no new fans.”
During a June 18 episode of the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast, Carlson declared he is “done” with the Republican Party, saying there is “no chance” he would support the GOP in the 2026 midterms. He added that he would not be supporting Democrats either. (RELATED: ‘No Chance I Would Support The Republican Party’: Tucker Carlson Ditches GOP)
Carlson, who described himself as a “consistent defender” of the Republican Party for 35 years, accused the GOP of going in the “wrong direction.”

A DEI extravaganza to mark the 250th birthday of the USA!
Oh wait.
That’s not the Bee; it’s actually a thing: San Diego County plans an identity-politics spectacular this July 4.
Wanna go?

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted this year to align the county’s Independence Day event with “equity and racial justice” goals.
Per a social media post from the mayor of El Cajon, the three-hour program will feature: a “tribal intimate blessing welcoming to land”; a tribal invocation; the American and black national anthems; local tribal community stories; Latino community stories; Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community stories; LGBTQIA+ community stories; and black and African community stories.
Whew. It’s exhausting just to read about.

But more to the point: all of this … on July 4 of America’s 250th year? What message does the county of San Diego mean to send?
Not one that elevates fun, family, unity, respect, gratitude and patriotism — traditional Independence Day fare.
Instead, the county stoops to woke pandering.

Extolling favored groups on the nation’s birthday is e pluribus unum in reverse: ex uno, plura.
It’s divisive. It’s ill-timed. And it’s disrespectful to the nation, to its founding values and to the US Armed Forces who have fought and sometimes died to guard the rights the grievance crowd takes for granted.
In the very recent past, Americans of all stars and stripes could agree on some things, including the Fourth of July and its fun family patriotic fare.

Remember the iconic jingle, “We love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet?”
Those were days when Americans united around major holidays, around a shared heritage of freedom and around pride in a country that’s the freest in the world.
No longer.
5
These days, the scolds can’t be satisfied, the socialists win elections from New York to Colorado (unthinkable not long ago) and divisive Fourth of July programs emerge in once-moderate places like San Diego County.
Increasingly, elected officials want to shove a thumb in the eye of the nation, its founding, its traditions and its glory.
Enough.
Note to the radicals who rush to tear America down on perhaps its most cherished holiday:
Stop being petulant about losing national elections.
5
Love your country even if you don’t love its current leader.
Teach, respect and appreciate the values of 1776: liberty, individual rights, equality, limited government and the rule of law.
Ditch the woke bilge and restore the picnics, US flags and fireworks.
Restore e pluribus unum.
Skip the lecture series and let the people have fun.
And a bonus memo to San Diego County voters: Remember this farce next election.
Just maybe, in another grand American tradition, you’ll do this:
Throw the bums out.
