Sharks trade Shakir Mukhamadullin to Oilers for star defenseman Darnell Nurse originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The Sharks made another big move.

San Jose acquired star defenseman Darnell Nurse in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday, the team announced after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman first reported the news.

San Jose traded defensemen Shakir Mukhamadullin and Zack Sharp to Edmonton in the deal.

The 31-year-old Nurse was selected by the Oilers with the No. 7 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, and in 12 seasons with Edmonton, recorded 324 points (88 goals, 236 assists) in 798 career games.

San Jose and general manager Mike Grier had a busy day on Wednesday, signing both forward Mason Marchment to a five-year contract and defenseman Jacob Trouba to a four-year deal, with the big trade for Nurse being the cherry on top.

Douglas Explains the Many Ways He Can Help the Dolphins Offense

The wide receiver room for Miami Dolphins received much-needed depth during the NFL draft, but Caleb Douglas feels like he can be more than just depth.

A third-round pick out of Texas Tech, Douglas has enthusiasm to spare as training camps draw ever-so-slightly nearer. With the departures of playmakers like Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, this is the perfect position for a rookie like Douglas to make a case for significant playing minutes.

He shared what he wants to provide for the team in an interview on The Dive Bar Podcast, and it's plentiful. He believes Miami trusts him to make the jump from college to NFL and immediately contribute with whatever the Dolphins ask him to do.

A Skill Set Ready For the Next Level

Douglas said that he didn't have Miami on his list of teams that would select him, citing Cleveland and Minnesota as more likely destinations. However, he couldn't be happier with where he ended up, because it's the perfect situation for him.

"I did have a Zoom with Miami, but it was almost too good to be true," Douglas said. "I'm expecting the call to be from probably the Browns, probably Minnesota. I got a call from the Dolphins, and it's a great opportunity out there. I'm on the way, I can't wait to be out there."

There's no pressure here in Miami, according to Douglas. As far as trust from the coaching staff, it's already established with him based on where they drafted him, as opposed to an even later round.

"I feel like I really just got to keep doing what I'm doing," Douglas said. "That's why they chose me. I feel like they would never choose me that early if they didn't believe in me. I've got to do a little more because we're at a higher caliber of play now. But just go out there, catch the ball, run hard, score a touchdown, and the rest is going to follow."

Bring Versatility to the Group

When we get to training camp, there's a clear vision for what Douglas wants to focus on. It's his versatility, something he excelled at with the Red Raiders, with 846 receiving yards and seven touchdowns off of 54 receptions in 2025, a performance that earned second-team All-Big 12 honors.

"I'm trying to go out there and let the coach know I can play at all positions," Douglas said. "I'm not just this type of receiver. I can be inside, I can be outside. Put the ball in my hands. I can go out there and make some plays for us, so you can win games."

This was a big strength for Douglas at Texas Tech. He specialized in separation from defensive backs, being an excellent route-runner and vertical deep threat thanks to his speed — he ran a 4.39 at the NFL combine — and his size (6-4, 206). It's this rare combination of speed and size that gives him a high ceiling in the NFL.

"I've just got to keep being consistent," said Douglas. "Go out there and keep being the caliber player that I am. I'm a big guy who can move in small places; use that to my advantage. I stop better than a lot of people, so go ahead and stop, and when I want to run, go ahead and run."

We're Bringing Back Trick Plays?

Aside from just being a receiver, Douglas believes that he can still throw the ball. So, he had a conversation with Malik Willis, and he's advocating for chances on trick plays to showcase his arm — after all, he was a quarterback in high school. And he's not interested in short yardage; he wants to air it out.

"Malik and I were talking about this," Douglas said. "Malik said, "Hey, you played quarterback?' I said, 'Yeah, man.' If Coach is listening to this, I do not want to throw a 10-20-yarder, I'm trying to throw a bomb like Mohamed Sanu."

Today, Messika unveils a spectacular new high jewelry creation with a massive blue diamond as its centerpiece. The jaw-dropping stone is the largest and rarest blue diamond ever to be uncovered in Botswana. It was discovered as a 41.11-carat rough in 2019 when it emerged from the Orapa mine. After cutting and polishing it revealed a Fancy Deep Blue VVS2 Type IIb 20.46-carat stone.

The government of Botswana, which still owns the gem, tapped Valérie Messika, founder of her namesake company, to design a jewelry piece to highlight the stone. The result? A pendant necklace set with more that 500 diamonds on the collar and surrouning the oval-cut Okavango Blue Diamond. “I tried to let the diamond speak by itself,” Messika told Robb Report. “I had so much respect of the beauty of the stones that I wanted it to be the central part…it reminds me something vintage with this medallion surrounded by white diamonds. I want the blue to pop, the more it’s surrounded by white, the blue is stronger.”

It’s no wonder the jeweler was Botwana’s top choice. Messika founded her eponymous company in 2005, drawing on the expertise of her father, André Messika—a renowned diamond dealer whose family has been in the diamond trade for generations and who has been known to supply some of the world’s best stones to the top houses. Following in her family’s footsteps, Valérie Messika has since made a name for herself on the Place Vendôme, Paris’ premiere destination for the best jewelry in the world. Her designs have catapulted her family’s name into the spotlight with popular designs like the Move collection, known for floating mobile diamonds in oval diamond-accented shapes. Collaborations with Kate Moss and Gigi Hadid further solidified the house the new must-have jewelry amongst younger, hipper clientele.

The jewelry piece and the stone, however, are not for sale. “This project is, for me, a tribute to natural diamonds,” she says. “It’s one of a kind and it’s a time in my career that I can work with such an amazing rare stone, so for me it’s, of course, a big honor to be the first, and for the moment, the only one to create a jewelry piece with the stone.” When asked why she would devote so much of her resources and time—it took a year to produce—to design a necklace never to be sold she says the thought never occurred to her. “Everybody focused on this stone for such a long time—all the craftsmanship, all the design people—but for me, I saw it also like a kind of tribute also to my expertise as a diamond jeweler.”

It’s not the first time she’s created a masterpiece around a rare African stone. Four years ago, she designed a jewelry piece around a cushion-shaped D-flawless 33-carat diamond from the Lucara mine in north-central Botswana. “I started the relationship with Botswana to promote the beauty of their land, creating natural diamonds, so for me it’s to be continued our relationship, and it’s important to put in light the magic of natural diamonds.” She adds that the piece is meant to celebrate the extraordinary creations from the earth, because as she puts it, “lab-born diamond are kind of like a photocopy from a laboratory.”

What is unprecedented is the diamond itself. “It’s the first time in my whole life [to see a diamond like this], and I’m not sure I will see a second…it’s very, very, very rare,” Messika emphasizes. “I think only 0.01% of the world’s diamonds can be blue.”

For now, the necklace remains a singular creation rather than an acquisition. In a luxury world obsessed with the next big thing, the Okavango Blue is a reminder that some treasures simply cannot be replicated—or bought.

President Trump on Wednesday talked with an AI-powered hologram of former President Theodore Roosevelt.

“Do you consider the Panama Canal your greatest achievement?” Trump asked the ghostly image at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota.

“The canal stands as one of my proudest battles, no question. But greatness is a strange thing,” the AI Teddy.
