Phillies Shake up Bullpen Demoting Chase Shugart in Favor of Veteran
A new veteran is being added to the Philadelphia Phillies bullpen.Kenneth Teape|
In this story:
Philadelphia PhilliesThe Philadelphia Phillies have been shaking up their bullpen throughout the 2026 MLB season, looking for the right combination of players to bridge the gap to closer Jhoan Duran.
Right-handed reliever Orion Kerkering has been excellent, but with Brad Keller sidelined because of an injury, it has been a bit of a revolving door for the middle relief recently. And now, the team is looking for a spark once again.
Right-handed reliever Chase Shugart is being demoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after back-to-back brutal outings against the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets. Taking his place in the bullpen will be veteran Lou Trivino.
As shared by Todd Zolecki of MLB.com on X, the Phillies have purchased the contract of the veteran righty from Triple-A to join the Big League club. This is his second stint in Philadelphia after making 10 appearances for the team in 2025.
Phillies send Chase Shugart to Triple-A, purchase Lou Trivino's contract

Trivino was great when his number was called last year for the Phillies. He threw nine innings with a 2.00 ERA, striking out eight batters. A 230 ERA+ and 3.36 FIP were produced along with 0.3 bWAR in such a short period of time.
The 2025 campaign was the first time that Trivino pitched in the Major Leagues since 2023. He actually began the 2026 season with Philadelphia but was released and signed by the Baltimore Orioles on May 4.
Trivino made two appearances, giving up six earned runs in three innings, and was granted free agency on May 12. Four days later, he was signed by the Phillies again, and now he is set to join the Big League club.
He certainly earned the promotion to the Big Leagues with how well he performed with Lehigh Valley. In 22 appearances and 28.1 innings of work, Trivino had a 1.27 ERA and 34 strikeouts, certainly looking like someone who can help stabilize a bullpen that has been, at times, overworked.
The Phillies selected the contract of RHP Lou Trivino from Triple-A. Chase Shugart was optioned to Lehigh Valley.
— Todd Zolecki (@ToddZolecki) June 30, 2026
There will certainly be work for Trivino right away. Shugart was someone that interim manager Don Mattingly was going to with some regularity, but he struggled recently, looking to possibly be running on fumes.
He has given up three runs in back-to-back outings against the Pirates and Mets. That gives him three appearances in June alone, during which three runs have been scored against him, which spiked his ERA to 4.97.
Before the recent struggles, he had a 2.21 ERA through his first 16 appearances in 2026.

Add The New York Post on GoogleThe NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association’s executive board will continue for another term after being unanimously nominated for a second consecutive election.
The nine-person slate ran unopposed — just as the last union election — paving the way for another four-year-term representing the NYPD Sergeants.
“The SBA Executive Board and I are very grateful for the faith our members have instilled in us to serve another term, representing the best sergeants in the world,” SBA President Vincent Vallelong said in a statement.

“These are no ordinary times for members of the NYPD and no matter what challenges lie ahead, the SBA will continue to meet those challenges head on and vigorously advocate to protect and defend the rights of all of our members.”
Along with Vallelong, Edmund Small and Edward Geary will continue in their respective posts as vice president and treasurer.
William Morrissey, Anthony Borelli, Donald Kipp, John Collins, Catherine Kunst and Joseph Robinson will also return to the executive board.

Over 550K patriots descend on Southern California for bonanza July 4 parties

Add The California Post on GoogleIn honor of the big 2-5-0, the West Coast is firing on all cylinders.
More than half a million red, white and blue patriotic partiers are expected to flood Southern California this Fourth of July as the region throws massive Independence Day celebrations in honor of America’s 250th birthday.
Expect historic parades, a star-studded stadium blowout with cheap ticket prices, and an absolute arsenal of pyrotechnics.
The biggest bang will be just a couple hours south of Los Angeles, where the sky over San Diego Bay is set to detonate. San Diego’s legendary Big Bay Boom is celebrating with a mind-boggling display of synchronized fireworks, with 6,000 launched simultaneously from four huge barges anchored across the harbor.
The 18-minute aerial assault is timed to a musical soundtrack, drawing tons of spectators to the waterfront. The show stretches across multiple viewing areas like Shelter Island, Harbor Island, The Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Coronado Ferry Landing.

Not to be outdone, Huntington Beach is preparing for another impressive turnout at what’s billed as the largest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi. An estimated 500,000 people are expected at Main Street for the 122nd annual Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade, beach festivities, fireworks and community events.
The parade features elaborate floats, military units, marching bands, equestrian groups, giant balloons, classic cars and more winding through Downtown Huntington Beach. The event is part of a larger celebration that spans three days, and includes a parade, a 5K run, a carnival and more.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is hosting its own blockbuster celebration at the historic Memorial Coliseum. Up to 50,000 fans are expected at The America 250 Benefit Show, which is part of a nationwide “America’s Block Party,” with a lineup that includes country megastar Chris Stapleton, alt-rock icons The Smashing Pumpkins, Chaka Khan, and Anthony Ramos — all hosted by none other than Queen Latifah.
Proceeds from the $17.76 tickets will go to Feeding America, the biggest hunger relief organization in the country. The show culminates with a fireworks extravaganza and a drone show.

Sharon Stone has made a triumphant return to the runway after more than three decades.
33 years after her last runway strut in 1993, Stone stepped onto the catwalk at the Vetements Menswear spring/summer 2027 show in Paris on Friday with all eyes on her.
She wore an overzied white blazer, black button up and white tie, that was styled backwards.
On the bottom, the “Basic Instinct” actress, 68, wore hip-high patent leather boots and seemingly nothing else.

Stone last made a turn on the catwalk in1993 when she closed the Valentino show in the design house’s iconic wedding finale look.
She wore a white lace minidress with a sculptural hat and long veil that trailed behind her as she walked.
The superstar wasn’t the only famous face on the runway; Britney Spears’ sons, Sean Preston and Jayden Federline made their runway debuts. Meanwhile, famous child North West was in the front row, facial piercings and all.

Back in February, the star shared a series of Instagram videos asking, “Are we supposed to be terrified when we look in the mirror?” To which she continued, “Why are we supposed to be afraid of our own human self? It’s like the weirdest idea in the world to me.”
In the post, she added, “Why in 2026 are we still afraid of aging & living in our own selves. We are more than appearance.. we are artists, mothers, sisters, wives, nurses, teachers… and the list goes on!”
The “Casino” actress also shared what fans called a “perfect” unfiltered bikini photo on Instagram just a few weeks ago.
Perhaps her modeling career is heating back up.
