Mavericks Monitoring Potential Trade Target From Nuggets
Mavericks Monitoring Potential Trade Target From Nuggets
The Dallas Mavericks have some interest in a veteran from the Denver Nuggets. Dustin Lewis|
In this story:
Dallas MavericksThe activity around the NBA is picking up with free agency slated to kick off later on Tuesday.
So far, there have been a variety of trades, such as Milwaukee parting ways with Giannis Antetokounmpo for a package from Miami, Memphis shipping Ja Morant off to Portland, and Minnesota acquiring LaMelo Ball from Charlotte.
Even though the Mavericks made a few small deals during the 2026 NBA Draft, they've yet to make a splash on the trade market.
There's a chance that changes soon, as Dallas has explored the trade market for various members of the roster, including Daniel Gafford, P.J. Washington, and Klay Thompson.
The Mavericks are clearly looking for ways to empower Cooper Flagg as the rising star enters his second season at the professional level.
With the Mavericks over the salary cap, the best way to add more talent to the roster is via trade.

Mavericks 'Believed' To Be Interested In Denver Nuggets Veteran
According to The Athletic's Sam Amick, there is a belief that the Mavericks are interested in Denver Nuggets forward Cam Johnson. The Miami Heat were also mentioned in the report.
"Rival teams consistently point to Nuggets forward Cam Johnson, acquired last summer in a deal that sent away Michael Porter Jr., as the most likely candidate to be dealt, in large part because the 30-year-old has just one season left on his deal at $23 million," Amick wrote. "Miami and Dallas are believed to be among the many interested teams."
Johnson is entering the final year of a four-year/$94.5 million deal. His contract will come off the books following the 2026-27 season, which could be enticing for the Mavericks.
Dallas is well over the cap and has a few large contracts that extend into the future, but they still have the financial flexibility to absorb a larger contract, if need be. Washington is tied to the team through 2030, while Gafford's contract runs through 2029. Not to mention, Caleb Martin holds a player option for the 2027-28 season.
That would open up room for Dallas to operate with next offseason, especially if Kyrie Irving declines his $42.4 million player option.
The real hurdle is figuring out if the Nuggets have the stomach to take on additional money, or if they're just looking to dump salary. Denver has Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Christian Braun locked down long-term. Those four players make up over 100% of the franchise's cap space for the next three years.

Johnson is probably used to being dangled as a trade piece at this point. Initially drafted by the Phoenix Suns, he was dealt to the Brooklyn Nets in 2023. After just one full season with the Nets, the franchise sent him to Denver in the Michael Porter Jr. deal.
Though he missed time due to injuries last year, Johnson still put up 12+ points per game for the fifth straight season. In total, he averaged 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over 30.5 minutes per contest.
Johnson has shot 39% or better from three-point range in six of his seven seasons in the NBA.
His ability to knock shots down would be a welcome sight for a Mavericks squad that struggled from distance a year ago.
Johnson won't be the only option to emerge for Dallas, though the possibility is enticing, considering the advantages the move could provide in the present and future.

Breakout Horror Hit 'Obsession' Is Now Available on Digital

While Obsession’s box office run is still going strong, it’s now available to watch at home on video-on-demand platforms. The horror film became a breakout smash with audiences and critics alike, and it’s now available to rent or buy on digital from platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, or Fandango at Home.
According to the listing, the film includes extras when you buy the title, which are not available when renting it. Obsession can be rented for $19.99 or purchased for $24.99. For physical media fans, a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release is slated for July 14. There is no word yet on a streaming release date; it’s a Focus Features release, a subsidiary of Universal Pictures, meaning it’s most likely to end up on Peacock.
stream on prime videoThe film was written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker in his debut, and quickly became a box office smash, raking in over $370 million against a reported budget of $750,000. Obsession follows Bear, played by Michael Johnston, who’s hopelessly infatuated with his co-worker Nikki, played by Inde Navarette in a chillingly good performance. Bear stumbles upon a novelty “One Wish Willow” and wishes Nikki would fall in love with him. He gets a little more than he bargained for when Nikki becomes obsessed with him, at the expense of their friendships, her own well-being, and a few more grisly consequences.
It’s a classic monkey’s paw conceit, but twisted to unsettling new heights, and Barker said he was inspired by a classic Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” episode. The success of Obsession and Backrooms, both original horror films helmed by under-30 directors with backgrounds on YouTube, kicked off a conversation about what’s driving the Gen-Z horror renaissance: “The question is whether this moment is going to evolve into a bona fide movement,” wrote Rolling Stone’s David Fear. “We’d bet a supply of cursed monkeys’ paws that the answer is yes.”
The director’s next film is Anything But Ghosts and will star Aaron Paul and Bryce Dallas Howard, and Barker teased that his next film will take place in the same universe as Obsession.

On Sunday, July 5, Vinícius Júnior’s Brazil will lock horns with Erling Haaland’s Norway in a blockbuster round of 16 World Cup match at East Rutherford, NJ’s MetLife Stadium.
If you’d like to be there to see these two top-notch clubs duel on the pitch live, tickets are available as of today.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on seats was $1,865 including fees on SeatGeek.
Prices start at $2,889 including fees for seats in the 100s.

As longtime fans may recall, this tantalizing round of 16 showdown won’t be the first time these squads have met in the World Cup.
Flash back to 1998 and you’ll be transported to Løvene’s shocking 2-1 victory over Canarinho in a group stage match before Brazil went on to the Final where they lost to France.
This time around, Vinícius Júnior, Bruno Guimarães and Gabriel Magalhães are the undisputed favorites against Haaland and co.
Still, if we’ve learned anything from the World Cup, it’s that anything can happen.
Norway is on a torrid four-game win streak and the team would love a chance to re-enact their surprising ’98 triumph.
Ahead of the match, midfielder Sander Berge said ” if the opportunity comes that we can play them in a knockout stage, that would be a dream coming true and a fantastic challenge, and a fantastic opportunity and experience.”
We’re expecting an instant classic in the Meadowlands.

The Final is scheduled to go down at the Jets and Giants’ home on Sunday, July 19 at 3 p.m.
We’ll see you there.
What’s the best way to get to MetLife Stadium for World Cup matches?
Although transit to the World Cup has undoubtedly been a hot topic, there are quite a few options to get to the Meadowlands for the games (rather than walk as some out-of-towners have suggested).
These are your best bets:
• Eat the $105 round-trip cost (slashed from a previously-announced $150) and take the NJT. Trains will be running back and forth to Secaucus Junction where you can transfer to the Meadowlands rail line, which takes you two minutes away from the Stadium.
• Board the official NYNJ Stadium Shuttle. Direct round-trip buses can be picked up at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Midtown East in Manhattan, and the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine Park-and-Ride in New Jersey. Be aware that tickets must be secured in advance through the New Jersey Transit World Cup platform. The major downside here? Potential traffic. The major upside? The Post reported that “round-trip bus fares for fans attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been cut by 75%…from $80 to $20.”
• Risk everything and book an Uber or Lyft. There are drop-off and pick-up zones outside MetLife. The major detractor here are likely exorbitant surge pricing and wait times. Proceed with caution here!
