A shower of red cards at the World Cup 😡

Red fever. After just one week of competition, this 2026 World Cup has already seen six send-offs. That is already more than in the entirety of the 2022 and 2018 editions. It is still, however, a long way from the record set in 2006 with 28 red cards.

Have referees and VAR become stricter, or are players being more reckless? Probably a bit of both...

Too close for comfort 🎥

Thomas Tuchel was particularly annoyed by how close the photographers were during the anthems before EnglandCroatia (Group L).

The England manager did not hesitate to call out FIFA either: "I beg FIFA to change the position of the photographers during the national anthems, because I couldn’t see my team even though I was really looking forward to that moment. It was a very special moment today. I was standing in front of a wall of fifty photographers positioned right in front of me. I couldn’t see a single one of my players and it spoiled my experience a little."

Goals in quick succession 🚀
