As the Edmonton Oilers continue navigating an offseason that already saw them part ways with longtime head coach Kris Knoblauch, trade discussions involving one of their core defensemen have started to take clearer shape before the start of free agency on July 1.

The situation involves veteran defenseman Darnell Nurse, who requested a trade on June 11 and holds significant control over his destination.

That's because Nurse, who is signed to an eight-year, $78 million deal trhough 2030, has a full no-movement clause and could block any trade the Oilers agree to with another franchise.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, via Jack Studley of Boston Hockey Now, Nurse has now submitted a shortlist of three teams he would be willing to join as trade talks progress.
