A three-year-old boy allegedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure at a UK zoo was heroically rescued by three family members who run the visitor attraction. The toddler suffered serious injuries after a man allegedly hurled him from an elevated walkway into a section of water used by Nile and saltwater crocodiles.
Cambridgeshire Police was called to Johnsons of Old Hurst, near Huntingdon, on Thursday at 1.24pm after reports that the boy had been attacked by at least one of the animals. A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed and was "unfit for interview", police have said. It has now been revealed that three family members who run the visitor attraction leapt into the eclosure in a heroic attempt to save the young boy.

Tracey Johnson, 56, was the first to jump into the enclosure soon after, which houses around 50 reptiles. By that time, the child is believed to have already been seized by either a Nile or a saltwater crocodile, the latter known for having the most powerful bite of any living animal, reports The Sunday Times.
Husband Andrew then entered the enclosure quickly after his wife along with Edward, one of their two siblings. All three of them are believed to have prised the toddler away from the crocodile, before taking him out of the enclosure.
Chris Newman, director of the National Centre for Reptile Welfare, said he spoke to the Johnson family on Friday evening. "We mustn't underestimate how much of a difference Tracey made," he said.
"She was first in there. She jumped in and dealt with an awful situation. She was then joined by her husband and son. It was a team effort."
Mr Newman added: "They are a resilient family but they are distraught. Their thoughts and concerns are for the child."
Cambridgeshire Constabulary said in a statement: "A threeyear-old boy from Cambridgeshire remains at Addenbrooke's hospital in a critical but stable condition following an incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst.
"The boy, who sustained serious injuries while in the [crocodile] enclosure, was pulled out by staff from the zoo and received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital.
"A 30-year-old man from Norfolk, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail while detectives from our major crime unit conduct further inquiries regarding this incident. The man, who is not known to the victim, was assessed as not being fit for interview."
Detective Inspector Verity McCann said: "Our inquiries are ongoing as we continue to understand the circumstances surrounding this distressing incident."

But in a scathing article in the Times today Mrs Badenoch told them to 'stop moaning' and get chosen on merit instead of retreating into 'more of the failed identity politics that is holding back our country'.
'There are many, many reasons why you shouldn't have any Milibands in the cabinet,' she said.
'But complaining that the boys haven't given them the right jobs or that the boys are taking all the jobs, just shows that Labour's women still don't get it.'
The idea of quotas was also attacked by Baroness Jacqui Smith, Labour's Skills Minister.
Asked by Times Radio if Mr Burnham should reserve jobs for women, she said: 'No, I think what Andy Burnham should be doing is building the very best team around him to change this country.'

A letter written by the Women's Parliamentary Labour Party and seen by the BBC has called on Mr Burnham to ensure a 50:50 split between men and women in government jobs after he succeeds Sir Keir Starmer.
'We are asking you to demonstrate this change from day one and address the toxicity and misogyny within our own party and government,' it said.
Labour has never had a female leader, while the Conservatives have had three, and Mrs Badenoch urged the government to follow its meritocratic example.
'If you run a meritocracy, then you do not have to worry about jobs for the boys,' she wrote.
'Every woman who is a Conservative MP, every woman who has ever won the leadership, has had to fight to get where she is.
'By contrast, Labour women are demanding guarantees from Burnham. But the truth is he doesn't have to give any guarantees.
'If none of Labour's women are prepared to get their hands dirty and challenge him for the leadership, their demands are toothless.'
'In fact, it's quite revealing that the women's parliamentary Labour Party has written to Burnham asking him to commit himself to at least 50 per cent female ministers.
'This has nothing to do with meritocracy. It is yet more of the failed identity politics that is holding back our country.'
