3 Chargers Fighting for Their Next Contract Who Should Have Monster Seasons

The Los Angeles Chargers generally do a pretty good job of staying out in front of the next big contracts they want to do.

Good examples this offseason aren’t hard to find. General manager Joe Hortiz and the front office got the Derwin James extension done early. They didn’t, however, do early deals with names like Zion Johnson and Odafe Oweh, two guys who wound up leaving in free agency on pretty big deals with other teams.

Looking ahead to July work and beyond, a few major names stick out as contract extension candidates who could have big seasons.

Tuli Tuipulotu

Will the Chargers get the Tuli Tuipulotu contract extension done during training camp? Or will it drag out into the regular season and next offseason?

One would think the Chargers would wrap it up as soon as possible. Tuipulotu is just 23 years old and a second-round investment with 26 sacks over 50 games, including a career-high 13 last year. He’s the foundational building block for the unit once Khalil Mack retires.

But Tuipulotu and his reps could be content to wait and see what the market looks like. They would likely be correct to think he’s headed for another monster season despite the coordinator change to Chris O’Leary, since the theme is consistency anyway.

It’s not like the Chargers are, or will be hurting for cap space, anyway, but peace of mind in having this done would be nice.

WR Quentin Johnston

Don’t laugh.

Quentin Johnston hasn’t lived up to his first-round billing, no doubt. Some of that has been self-inflicted wounds like drop issues.

But if fans complained about archaic-feeling offenses like the one Greg Roman rolled out on a weekly basis for other players, Johnston probably deserves the same bit of grace.

Now, Johnston gets at least one chance to prove what he can do in a modern Mike McDaniel offense. That’s exciting, considering the new coordinator shouldn't have any problems drawing up big yards-after-catch chances for Johnston on short work, which is where he seems to excel.

Keep in mind, too, Johnston is still just 24 years old and has scored eight touchdowns in each of his last two seasons. Don’t sleep on McDaniel walking in the door at the perfect time to match Johnston’s developmental upswing.

Bonus: Donte Jackson

Maybe don’t sleep on veteran cornerback Donte Jackson. He came over last year in free agency and immediately dropped a 71.9 Pro Football Focus grade, ranked 24th out of 114 at his position. Jackson will be 31 in November, but if he has another strong season at a premium position, the Chargers might be willing to throw him big numbers, even if it’s on a year-to-year basis like they do with Mack.

A beloved California radio station has lost its final local voices as an iHeartMedia bloodbath spreads nationwide.

Riverside-based 99.1 KGGI cut longtime on-air personalities Evelyn Erives, Nick Nack and Garrison King las week as part of the radio giant’s latest wave of layoffs, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The trio had been among the last familiar voices at the Inland Empire station — leaving KGGI without any local on-air hosts.

The cuts came as iHeartMedia restructures its radio programming to better “leverage” technology, according to an internal memo cited by the outlet.

The memo framed the overhaul as a way for the company to “move faster and operate with greater precision across markets” and “position us not just to adapt to the future, but to lead it.”

iHeartMedia declined to say how many workers were affected, though dozens of on-air personalities and other staffers have reportedly been cut across the country.

The layoffs are part of a broader cost-cutting push at the nation’s largest radio operator, which owns more than 850 stations across 160 markets — including Los Angeles-area stations KFI-AM, KLAC-AM, KOST-FM and KIIS-FM.

In May, iHeartMedia announced a new savings plan aimed at trimming another $50 million on top of $100 million in previously announced cuts.

The company has also pushed deeper into podcasting as traditional radio faces shrinking audiences and shifting ad dollars.

But KGGI cuts come after iHeartMedia rolled out its “Guaranteed Human” campaign last year — pledging that its stations and podcasts would not use AI-generated personalities or AI-generated music.

With KGGI now stripped of its last local hosts, iHeartMedia has not who — or what — will take their place.

Facebook’s $725 million privacy class-action lawsuit settlement keeps on giving — as users of the social media platform are expected to rake in more settlement money soon.

Facebook users who were active on the platform between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022 and signed up for the class action started to receive emails about the new payments starting early June.

“This additional settlement payment will be issued in the next 3–4 business days. The payment method you selected to receive your settlement payment was ACH,” read the email reviewed by The California Post.

The first rounds of payouts were made in September 2025. The United States District Court for the Northern District of California approved a second payout distribution in May 2026 — users are being paid over a period of four weeks.

However, the payout is not a life-changing amount of cash as it involved millions of users. Facebook had more than 240 million US users in 2022. While all were eligible, payouts are only to be sent out to those who filed a claim.

Some people took to other social media platforms to boast about the not-so-grand settlement payment.

“Thanks to the Facebook privacy settlement I was able to buy TWO slices of pizza from 7-eleven today,” a payee wrote on X.

Another X user posted, “A Facebook class action settlement paid me $7.31! However shall I spend it?”

The class-action lawsuit, sparked by the Cambridge Analytica scandal of 2018, was brought by Facebook users alleging that the social media giant misused their data and sold it to third parties. Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms agreed to shell out a whopping sum of $725 million to settle the lawsuit.
